Yvonne Dolan, M.A., is the Founding Member of the Institute for Solution-Focused Therapy. An internationally acclaimed author, lecturer, trainer, and therapist, she has taught Solution-Focused Brief Therapy for over twenty years. Yvonne’s books on Solution-Focused practices have been translated into seven languages. She is the past president and co-founder (with Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg) of the Solution-focused Brief Therapy Association.
Yvonne has been a therapist for 30 years. She has conducted training seminars on SFBT throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and South America. Her work reflects a life-long interest in the linguistics of hope and its practical applications to clinical and everyday life situations.
She is co-author with the late Steve de Shazer & Insoo Kim Berg and colleagues of More than Miracles: The State of the Art of Solution-focused Brief Therapy ( Haworth/Taylor & Francis, 2007); Resolving Sexual Abuse: Solution-focused therapy and Ericksonian Hypnosis for Survivors (W.W. In workshop settings, Yvonne is known for her unique combination of practical techniques, detailed handouts, hands-on practice sessions and lively demonstrations, punctuated by gentle humor.
